Film Openings
Juno- Intro:
· Coming of age, the main character looks young.· Music up beat, happy, will probably be an upbeat film, carefree film, light hearted.
· Parts were cartoon, suggests she’s young, fantasy, appeal to a younger audience.
· Clothes, casual teenage clothes.
· Font, comic like, Sans Serif, very colourful and will attract a younger audience.
· Teenage football team runs past her and that shows that its going to be a teenage film, shows it may be set at a school.
· She is drinking ‘ Sunny D’ and she is also drinking it from the carton, which is really emphasised and this connotes how young she is.
Easy A– Intro:
· Set in a high school as the opening shows us around a school full of teenagers which connotes that it will be a teenage drama.
· Non– diegetic music is very upbeat shows it will be a very light hearted film.
· Montage of shots (Series of clips put together to set it).
· Know who the main character is because she does a voice over at the beginning which is establishing the story line.
· Sound layering is done by her speaking gets put over the non-diegetic music playing in the background.
· A lot of comedy from what she is saying show also connotes the teenage setting.
· Very stereotypical characters, popular crowd and non popular crowd. (Close up of group of girls who are ‘popular’ and they bump into the ‘non-popular’ girl who falls over).
· The name placements for the editing shows the name of the actress (Emma Stone) next to her when she falls over on the floor.
Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging– Intro:
· Music is very upbeat and shows that it will be a very upbeat film.· Care about what people think of them which is the stereotype for young teenage girls.
· Stereotypically, non popular and popular groups.
· Girl gets stroppy and angry easy which is stereotypical for teenagers.
· Set at a party full of teenagers connotes a school with be involved at some point during the film.
· Main character is a countertype as she doesn't care about what everyone thinks but her friends do.
