Changes to 2nd draft

We managed to make all of the changes that we wanted to, these included taking out some small parts and we made enough time up to add all of the paused voice overs in.

These were where we added the voice overs, these ones were to explain who is who and explain the relationships between each character. By adding the voice overs I think it seems more like an opening to a teen angst film as it has less dialogue.
We also added who did the editing and who were the directors, we added these to the party scene with a transition bringing them in because as they come in it goes with the beat of the music and we thought it looked good.

Changes to 1st Draft

We got feedback from our first draft and we decided to add/change a few things, our changes included adding more voice overs as there is too much dialogue and it isn't very clear what's going on it will also seem like more of an opening for a teen angst and also it wasn't very clear who was who and what the actual storyline was so by adding more voice overs it will make it more clear on what's going on.

Also there were some sections can could be taken out all together as they just weren't necessary or were too long. From the feedback we got, it was clear that the school scene of our opening was too long and some of it was not needed for an opening so by shortening that down it will also give us a lot more time for our voice overs.

Voice overs that need to be added are from Faye's perspective and they will introduce all of the main characters by freezing the character and a voice over will be added over the top to say who they are. As well as a voice over before the rewind to state that something is going to happen.

Also we need to add in who it was edited by and who the directors were.

2nd Changes - Camera shots

These changes are changes that we had to make whilst filming our opening because of things like timing, space and other ideas we had that would make it better.

We had to change quite a few camera shots because of the setting that we filmed it in, on our story board we have put that we were going to use lots of close up shots, we didn't use as many as we first anticipated because if we used them the opening wouldn't have flowed as nicely as we would've wanted to.

Also some long/mid shots we wanted to do on the stairs and in the hall way of the party couldn't have happened like we wanted to as the space didn't allow us to get as far away from the characters. Also just a couple of other shots didn't happen at school because of the change in script, so we just adapted to the changes.

1st Changes - Background

Another one of the changes we made was the background of the home screen of the phone we used. The reason for this is because throughout the whole opening scene there's nothing that gives away that Lucy and Faye are friends. So by changing Faye's wallpaper to a photo of her and Lucy it lets the people watching know that they are actually friends. This is shown when Faye turns off her alarm the next morning.

1st Changes - Script

These changes are changes that we had to make whilst filming our opening because of things like timing, space and other ideas we had that would make it better.

Changed we have needed to make include changes to the script, this is because we had a lot more script than were able to put into our film opening. At the end of our script there was supposed to be a scene of an argument between Lucy and Charlie, but due to timing we had to completely cut it out and change it to just Lucy and Faye bumping into each other in the corridor.

Everything that is highlighted is the parts we have taken out/changed.

OMG! : The script.
Characters: Faye, Christian, Lizzy, Lucy, Lana and Charlie
·         Scene 1: Faye’s bedroom
·       Faye is asleep; she then gets woken up by her alarm clock. She puts her head in her hands as she begins to remember what happened the weekend just been. She gets out of bed, walks over to her mirror and stares at herself in shame. She then says to herself in the mirror (head in her hands)
·         Faye: what have you done Faye?
·         Rewinds from that morning back to the party

·         Scene 2: house party
·         Group of girls walk up to the house and knock on the door. Lucy (who’s party it is) opens the door and says,
·         Lucy: heeeyyy, come in girlies!
·         The camera then follows the girls into the kitchen where the party is in full flow. The people at the party are using a selfie stick which is used to show who their characters are, this will be done using a montage. The camera then tracks the triple L’s through the hallway and walking up the stairs. They cross paths with Charlie(the school heart throb who is also Lucy’s ex-boyfriend)
·         Lucy (flirtatiously): hey Charlie, do you miss me?
·         Charlie (looking flustered) rushes past obliviously.
·          Lucy (looking annoyed) turns to Lizzy and Lana and says
·         Lucy: where did he come from?
·         In unison they all look up to Lucy’s bedroom door which is slightly open and then all rush to see who’s in there. Lucy takes a deep breath and pushes her door open. To Lucy’s horror she finds her ‘friend’ Faye wrapped up in the duvet.
·         Triple L’s: O       M       G!  (introduces title)

·         Scene 3: fast-forward to Faye outside the school
·         Takes a deep breath and walks into school to find Christian, she gets nasty stares and people are whispering about her.
·         Christian: babes, I wouldn’t wanna be you right now….. oh wait I would, Charlie is FIT!
·         Faye: oh Christian this isn’t a time for jokes
·         Christian: don’t worry hun I’ve got your back, those triple L’s don’t intimidate me
·         Christian links arms with faye and then carry on walking to their lesson.
·         They cross paths with Charlie
·         Charlie: (awkwardly) Faye, can we have a chat?
·         Faye: (hesitantly) not here Charlie look who’s coming
·         The triple L’s strut towards them, Faye looks timid but Christian is ready to fight fayes corner.
·         Lucy: well well well… look what the cat dragged in
·         Christian: not today girls she don’t wanna hear it
·         Charlie: alright guys let’s not do this here… Lucy do you not think she’s heard enough already?
·         Lucy: obviously you’re taking her side!
·         Charlie: it’s not like that
·         Lucy: what is it like then?
·         Charlie: look Luc, we were both drunk and it just happened
·         Lucy: alcohol is NEVER an excuse, Faye I thought you were my friend? And you Charlie, I thought you had more respect for me than that….. I guess not.
·         Charlie: common Luc, our relationship was a joke anyway, I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did (laugh to himself)
·         Lucy: (gasps) well if you think that …. Slaps him round the face
·         Ends with the triple L’s walking off and Christian, Faye and Charlie are left looking shocked.

Photos of the settings at school - Teen Angst OMG

We use a school scene for some of our film opening because in teen angst films this is a very popular setting, because it is a good way to show that is a teen angst and that the film is more based at teenagers as they can relate to it as they would also be at school.

This is outside of the reception at the school we filmed it at, this was where Faye and Christian met to walk into school.

This is inside of the doors where Faye and Christian walked into school to be confronted by the Triple L's.

This is the hall way that Faye and Christian walk through to get into school.

This is the location we are using to film all of our school scenes. This shot is used when Faye walks up to school on the first day back.

On Wednesdays, Mean Girls wear pink.
This screenshot is from Mean Girls, one of the main teen angst films that we took our inspiration from.

We decided to film part of our opening in a shcool because in a lot of teen angst films, a school is the main setting of the whole film. So we wanted to incorparate this setting into a least part of the opening.

Also it helps the idea of it being a teen angst as teenagers go to school, this is another way they are able to relate to it.

Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and Dionne (Stacey Dash) look to makeover frumpy new girl Tai (Brittany Murphy).

This is a clip from Clueless, another teen angst film that is based in a school scene.

Characters and costumes - Teen Angst OMG

Characters and costumes

This is Christian, Faye's gay best friend, he is played by Niall Hay. The clothes he is wearing are casual and are very stereotypical to what teenagers wear, this shows it is a teen angst film.
This is Charlie, the 'heartthrob' that all the girls want to be with but most importantly Lucy (the main mean girls ex) he is played by Johnny Crook.
He is wearing a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and this shows that he has good sense of style and his stance shows that he has a lot of arrogance. All of these things connotes that it is a teen angst.
This is Faye, she is the friendly girl who is liked and friends with everyone, she is played by myself.
Faye is wearing a casual outfit of a black long sleeve top and a leather skirt, this is very stereotypical to a teenager and connotes that it is a teen angst film.
The fact she is smiling in her 'selfie' shows that she is innocent and friendly.

These are the Triple L's Lucy, Lizzie and Lana they are the stereotypical mean girls and they are played by Abbie Arshed, Becca Pennell and Naomi Newell.
They are wearing casual clothes and this again shows that they are teenagers and are very fashionable.
The pose in their 'selfie' is of them pouting and they are all doing the same pose which shows they are very similar and also the pose is more serious than others which shows they are mean.

Extra Characters - Teen Angst OMG

For our opening we needed lots of extra people for the background of the party, so we asked lots of our friends if they would help us. This is a screenshot below of us asking and who said they would do it.

Photos of the settings and props used at party - Teen Angst OMG

This is a photo of the inside of the front door where the main mean girl Lucy lets everyone into the party.

The outside of Lucy's house where the party  is held.

The street where everyone walks into the party.

Lucy's kitchen where the main part of the party takes place.

The stairs where the Triple L's bump into Charlie when he rushed past them.

The top of the stairs where the Triple L's find out what's happened between Charlie and Faye.

A selfie stick was used as a prop to take photos of the main characters to show up in the opening titles. Also we used a selfie stick because it is very popular with teenagers especially at parties and with friends.

Another prop we used were bottles of alcohol, these were used because it shows it is a teen angst film as teenagers usually drink alcohol at parties.

Faye's bedroom where she wakes up and remembers what she done at the party.

Lucy's bedroom at the party where Faye is found in bed.

This is another prop we used, it is the phone we used for the alarm that Faye turns off on the morning of school.

We chose to do a party setting for some of our opening because it is very stereotypical for teen angst films to use a party scene during their films like Clueless for an example (below). This is because it shows that teenagers just want to have fun, party and socialise with their friends and we really liked the idea of this so we wanted to incorporate the same idea into our film.
